We are pleased to announce that, in July 2025, PETROBRAS and DEEPSEED SOLUTIONS signed a major Cooperation Agreement of 3 years to develop applied research and implement new engineering methods and processes into the expert system FLOCO®. This initiative aims to optimize capital project performance, accelerate the energy transition, and reduce GHG emissions across offshore oil & gas production systems.
FLOCO® (Field Layout Concept Optimizer) transforms conceptual engineering by automatically generating and evaluating offshore development scenarios. Powered by a comprehensive database of equipment, systems, and construction resources, FLOCO® not only produces conceptual designs but also ranks them against critical KPIs such as CAPEX, OPEX, NPV, IRR, payback, profitability, and GHG emissions intensity.
Using advanced simulations based on metaheuristic algorithms and Model-Based Systems Engineering, FLOCO® supports operators in identifying optimal development strategies that balance economic value with environmental responsibility. This enables faster, smarter, and lower-carbon decision-making in the early phases of offshore field development.
“After two years of rigorous testing and licensing of FLOCO®, PETROBRAS has decided to deepen the collaboration, expanding the platform’s capabilities to tackle emerging industry challenges. In this new phase, we will explore innovative technologies and development models that drive the transition to a low-carbon future. We are proud that our technology is playing a key role in this transformation”, said Leandro Basilio, CEO of DEEP SEED SOLUTIONS.
